A Great Weekend

It is 6:45 am, and it is 8 degrees above zero. I just may go sunbathing after I'm done writing! I'm up this early because my hubby is coming home from his weekend in Vegas.

Saturday, my small group got together to do soy wax batiking, and yesterday I went to the studio and continued the efforts. Instead of messing with dyes, I used paints - Setacolor, Pebeo and Jacquards. I am impressed with how easy it is to remove the soy wax from the fabric - but after trying many different stamping techniques, I completely understand the higher cost of batik fabrics! Getting a decent imprint is not for the feint of heart!

I have several pieces now, that I want to build from.

This is my new electric skillet I got for using for soy wax!

This is a piece that's been waxes - no pictures of the finished piece yet, it's still drying at the studio.

The rest are the ones I got finished yesterday. Clearly they are in need of ironing - the got scrunchy in the bag I brought them home in. I will be ordering more wax today, as you can see in my skillet, I haven't much left!

The piece above was done using an actual tjap that one of the Rosie Quilters was kind enough to purchase and share with us! I was not overly successful in using it! It is far hard than it looks to use one of those things and get a clear stamping.

I probably won't make it to the studio today, as hubby is just getting home. (Though if he decides to nap....) But I will be going in tomorrow. :) I need to rinse the wax out of the pieces I left to dry, and then I need to clean up so I can begin designing and sewing.

Have a great day!
