A Long Weekend

This post won't be super long, as I don't think I can muster the energy right now to not be utterly depressing! lol

Last week I was struck with the flu, right in the prime of getting ready for Art-A-Whirl. I was in bed for something like 3 days, before I was able to start dragging myself to the studio to get ready for the show. I managed to get it done, with the help of awesome people/family/friends!

The bummer? I've not sold a single piece, and there are only 5 more hours to go, from noon to five today.

I'm experiencing the "sting" of a fiber artist, as I have heard several times, the comments, "That's not art, those are just quilts." *sigh* Would it be inappropriate to huddle them up and send them to a re-education center, that would drill into them that it IS art?

Anyways, the highlight of the day looks to be when I get to close shop, and then FINALLY get to go see the Star Trek movie afterwards! lol Then I plan to sleep, sleep, sleep. Any just maybe some of my confidence I was starting to get might come back, but we'll see!

At least there's decent weather on the way.

I'm sorry to hear you've had such a crappy week. Maybe you should put up some signs that read "Yes you can frame these if it makes your closed mind feel better." OK, maybe that's not nice -- but you can think it! Feel better soon!

Obviously the right crowd did not make it to your studio. I'm so sorry it didn't go as you had hoped. Enjoy the movie. We saw it Friday. Then get some rest and relaxation. Carolyn in Kerrville, TX

Frustrating at times to be an artist, but you are definitely an artist, creating beautiful works of art.

bah - a pox on those people who need to learn to keep the appropriate sides of their small brains quiet. don't give them or their comments another thought, it zaps your energy! i have had pieces of my work that i've spent months on compared to potholders...good thing i can't spit fire. for everyone of those folks, there is someone like us, who appreciates and values and loves the artwork of each other. don't be discouraged. instead, enjoy your new studio, get some rest! and keep making art!
