Exhausted!

Today was a prolific day! I worked on one of the paintstik panels, and added the pieces to it I wanted to. I really like how it turned out.

It's called "Moonlight Over Kona":

And then, the maintence guy from my studio building told me the two doors that were just laying in the hallway were up for grabs. So grab I did! I did some investigating, then ran to Home Depot and got the screws I needed, a drill (omg, I have my OWN drill now! And, I USED it!), and while I was there, I picked up the paint for some other pieces.

These were the doors that up until recently, were the women's bathroom stall doors:

I removed all the hardware, except for the large metal hinges (these things probable weigh a pound each), then screwed one door into the hinge of the other door! These doors are awesome, as they are heavy solid wood (oak?).

Then Debra Svedberg stopped in for a visit. We had a nice chat, had a cookie (yum!), and laughed a lot! She's in the Minnesota Contemporary Guild also, and it's always nice to get to know other guildies. Especially ones that share a good sense of humor!

Then, I got busy with the paint I bought! This is the door that makes the top of my cutting table. I normally don't paint wood, but it's just a cheap hollow door. I picked a very bright blue. (Later I wll be adding red-orange accents to the pieces.)

These are the two side bases to the cutting table, that the door sits on to make the "table".

And this is one of the pieces use to lean against the wall to hang pieces from, I'll be finishing it and painting the other ones tomorrow:

I am so excited! I feel like things are finally starting to come together, and I'm realling making myself at "home" there! And..I USED A DRILL! This is a biggie for me, because I've always been scared of drills!

Tomorrow I will be finishing all the painting I have to do so far. Though the pieces like the one above actually take more time since your dealing with smallish areas that prove to be a bit more difficult. I'm not sure yet whether I got enough blue paint, I only got a quart of it, since the gallon sizes were well over $30, and I didn't want to get stuff with a ton of paint I wouldn't use up quickly.

I'm looking forward to getting them finished and dried, so I can put thing back in order and have my working space open again.

Next thing you know, my new commercial table will be here, and I'll be zipping along on it!

Have a great night!

Love, love, love Moon over Kona! Is the border fabric done with paintsticks too? Your blue paint looks perfect. Congratulations on conquering your fear of a drill. Your studio looks fantastic.

Love the new piece and love the new drilled/painted pieces! That's a great blue. (You're lucky your new doors didn't come with some "For a good time call..." graffiti! Hee hee!) Happy drilling!

This is all great. I love the blue you're using. It's going to be so cheerful when it all comes together. I got a drill for Christmas one year and I'm still afraid of it! I'm LOL at Bridget's comment about "good time call..." Enjoy your painting. Carolyn in Kerrville, TX

Wow! What a fabulous color that blue is. It's going to be a great spark for your dispay spaces. Love that fabric outside of the moon. Keep saying "my drill is my friend". I'm so proud of you. I'll have to find time to come down and play with you again. Norma
