Play Date

I'm going home today, to do a project with my Mom and a friend of ours. Then, I am bringing Mom home with me for a couple of days to play at the studio! It should be a fun time, and I hope to show her the soy wax batiking.

Funnily I was inadvertently on the Quiltshow.com this past episode! Ricky and Alex were talking about the blogging area of quiltshow.com and showed this:

It may be hard to tell on this picture, but that is MY head that Alex is using her stick to point at!! Woohoo! Does this count as me being famous now?

This is what I worked on this week, it's for a fabric challenge at IMQA in Kansas City (that I sadly can't attend *sniff*). This is what I pulled out to use to work with the challenge fabric, I hand painted this last summer.

This is what I did with the above piece of fabric:

The outer most border, where I will feature detailed quilting (the show is for long arm quilting so focuses on the quilting). I went at the hand painted piece with some markers for detail, I think it really spruces it up quite a bit.

Here is a close up of the center panel in more detail:

I'm not sure what I want to call it yet, but have toyed with "Looking Glass", but am really not certain yet, it may depend on the quilting!

I'm off to Mom's now have a great day!
